Anker Astro 5600mAh Portable Charger Review

In a black out situation you will probably have less than 24 hours before society goes nuts.  Most of us live a society where we are continually plugged to the power grid.  Our whole lives revolve around it.  Our phones and tablets are our main form of communication which is also reliant upon the power grid.

That is why it is important to have at least one black out kit to get you through this situation until the power is back up or gives you enough time to bug out.  With that being said I highly encourage you to have a portable battery pack to charge your cell phones and other important items.

I have recently purchased the Anker Astro 5600mAh Portable Charger and have added it to my black out kit.  As a matter of fact I was so well pleased that I bought an extra one and added it to my EDC pack.  So far it is definitely one of my most favorite items of prepper gear that I have purchased.

Luckily there have only been a few times that I had to use the Anker Astro for non-emergency situations.  I was totally shocked when I did.  With one full charge I was able to fully charge my Galaxy S6 3 times.  That was a pleasant surprise.

It is really simple to use.  You don’t really need any instructions to get started.  When I first opened it already had 75% of battery life.  You can tap the power button on the top to see how much power you have.  As an addition there is a flashlight built into it.  You can never have too many flashlights with your prepper gear lol.

Now I will mention that I only use the charger casually and not a heavy user.  I only use it when I absolutely have no other option.  So if you are a heavy duty user and plan to use this more often; then I would suggest looking at the battery life of the one that you purchase.  This one has 5600mAh.

Altogether the Anker Astro 5600mAh Portable Charger is great for your EDC gear.  This one is a little bulkier but they do have slimmer options.  It actually fit perfectly inside of my Maxpedition Beefy Pack for my EDC.

Ultimately it will be a great addition to your blackout kit when the power goes down.  Feel free to leave any comments below if you have any questions about it.  I would be happy to help.  At the time of this post they are having a 68% off sale on Amazon.
