How to Prepare for the Coming Civil War

how to prepare for the coming civil war

“A nation divided against itself cannot stand.” Lately, in the United States, we have been experiencing a lot of divisions.  Tensions are increasing and we are hearing the rumor of a civil war.  So in this post, we are going to talk about how to prepare for the coming civil war.

No longer do we remember the saying “united we stand and divided we fall.”  Instead, debates turn into violent fights and riots.  There are many patriots who are willing to fight to their very last breath for this country.  On the other side, there are very rich people who are willing to spend billions of dollars to orchestrate division so that this country collapses.

There are enemies of the United States and other countries who are planting division in hopes to see the countries destroyed.  They want to see freedom demolished and replaced with an extreme form of communism.  Their believers blindly follow the agenda without knowing the millions of lives that have died at the hands of communism.

A lot of people brush off these threats claiming that they are weak and incapable.  However, there are some serious threats from well-organized organizations.  Even some of these “resistance” groups have formed alliances with terrorist groups.  So never say never.

As a prepper, the most important thing for us should be survival.  I’m not here to say that you should fight for this side or the other.  Instead, I want to give you tips on how to prepare for the coming civil war.

How to Prepare for the Coming Civil War

Build your emergency supplies

Building emergency supplies should be the foundation for anyone that is preparing for any type of SHTF event.  To start off you should have a strategic preparedness plan put together so that hopefully one day you are not forced to bug out.  I talk about this a little more in-depth in The Strategic Prepper eBook.  I believe that we could be bug out proof even on a budget.

The rule of 3’s should be used as a guide for the preparedness plan.  You can only survive 3 hours in rough weather conditions, 3 days without water and 3 weeks without food.  During a civil war, you can expect fighters to block off these supply routes.  This will be done in hopes to starve out citizens and other fighters.

Now a civil war will most likely last longer than 3 weeks.  So you need to have a long-term supply stored up.  So you will need to know the emergency food preparedness basics.  These basics include canned food, dried food, and MREs.  For a more severe and drawn out event, you will need to be producing your own renewable supplies.

Build up off-grid resources

As I mention in The Strategic Prepper eBook, the only way to increase your survivability is to be self-sufficient.  You won’t be able to depend on FEMA and the government to help you survive in a civil war.  Not only will food supply routes be shut down but you can expect the power grid to be shut down as well.

So you will need some off-grid and renewable resources.  Such resources include power, water, and food as I mentioned in the previous point.  You will need to have an alternate source of power to keep you warm if you live up north.  So having wood or propane heaters will be helpful.

You will also need the ability to cook.  However, building a fire may not be a viable option as it can draw the attention of attackers.  Instead, you should look for smokeless cooking options.

One great option for off-grid cooking is a solar oven.  You can simply place these ovens in the sun with your food placed inside.  Then let it cook.  This won’t produce smoke and won’t need to gather wood.

Now the weather conditions will have to be optimal in order to cook.  So you will need other sources of heat to cook such as propane or kerosene stoves.  I just recently used a Kerosene stove to cook for 2 weeks with the power in my community down.  It was a lifesaver.

With the kerosene or propane stove, you will need gas.  The solar stove only needs the sun.  But these tools will give you multiple options to cook in a grid down scenario.

Move from the inner cities

Most of those who wish to bring down America reside in the inner cities.  So you should stay away from these areas especially if the tensions continue to increase.  The inner cities will be the first target of attacks in a civil war.

Yes, the conflict may gradually shift outside of the cities.  However, by already being outside of the city it will give you the opportunity to hunker down or bug out.

Prepare your bug out plans

Now, I’m not a big proponent of bugging out being the Plan A of our strategic plan.  The ultimate goal should be to bug out proof so that you are not forced to bug out.  Bugging out should only the last possible option because of the dangers associated with it.  This is especially important when considering how to prepare for the coming civil war.

You should have at least 4 possible bug out locations.  These locations should be in 4 different directions.  That way if SHTF in the south then you can still head north, east or west.

Stash some cash and other currencies

When planning how to prepare for the coming civil war you have to consider money.  It may be challenging to find any store that is open or have anything on their shelves.  Most likely during this time stores will be looted.

You won’t be able to rely on your credit/debit card to make transactions.  Instead, you should always have some emergency cash on hand.  I recommend having at least 6 to 8 months’ worth of expenses.

Another great option for currency will be precious metals.  The most widely accepted coins will be junk silver.  These coins are widely recognized and contain real value.  This is one of many great reasons why preppers should have silver.  I typically try to purchase at least $20 to $30 every paycheck from SD Bullion as they don’t have a minimum order requirement.

Get tactical defense training

Again, I am not here to encourage anyone to take sides in a civil war conflict.  Instead, this post is on here to help how to prepare for the coming civil war.  The most important focus for a prepper during a civil war should be survival.

If you are looking to stand and fight for your country then I applaud you.  However, the most important thing is the safety of your family and yourself.  In order to properly defend yourself and your family then you will need some training.

Training doesn’t mean going to the shooting for target practice.  That isn’t tactical training and has little benefit in a live conflict.  Tactical training are exercises that simulate real-life scenarios.

In a gunfight, your shooter will be a moving, aggressive target.  They are not going to be standing still in one position like target practice.  So it is important to practice those skills now so that they become second nature should the time come.

Get physically fit

Now, this may be hypocritical of me because this is one of my biggest challenges.  However, in any SHTF or bug out scenario, it will be the survival of the fittest. In a civil war, there is going to be a lot of fighting and fleeing.

Unlike the first civil war in America, there won’t be rules of engagement.  I believe that one side will be going through neighborhoods to loot and to kill.  So you will have to fight or flee.

In a bug out scenario, you may be forced to walk many miles to get to your location.  Along the way, you will be dodging and hiding from the enemy.  So it is going to take a lot of physical strength to get by.

On top of that, the average person can only walk 15 miles per day.  To get into shape I recommend starting off small with short walks.  Then week by week continue to increase the distance and intensity.

You can even practice bugging out by carrying your bug out bag on these exercises.  This will help to give you a good idea of how far you can really walk with 25 to 50 pounds on your back.  It will also give you the ability to measure how heavy your bug out bag should be.

Put together a community watch program

No man is an island.  Lone wolves don’t live long.  As humans, we were created to thrive off of relationships.

There is also strength in numbers.  So I would recommend forming a neighborhood crime watch.  This will help bring your community together in case such an event happens.

Now, they don’t have to be preppers.  As long as they are willing to communicate and defend if a civil war then that is all that matters.  I’m not suggesting that you be openly transparent about your preparedness.  But you should begin building relationships with your community now.

Be the Gray Man

Now, I know a lot of us are patriots and love to showcase our patriotism.  However, this also puts a target on our back for those wish to destroy this country.  If SHTF they will remember your patriotism and target you before others.  As a gray man, you don’t want to be remembered by people who could do you harm.

Be prepared for martial law

When considering how to prepare for the coming civil war you will have to factor in the huge possibility of martial law.  You should expect it in such a scenario.  Also, you could witness fighting in between military forces who are enforcing martial law.

During martial law you have three choices: fight, flee or deal with it.  You will need to choose now what decision you will make should the time come.

Have a passport on hand

If your bug out locations are compromised then you may be forced to consider leaving the country.  However, you may not have immediate access to an airport in such a conflict.  You may have to flee to a neighboring country to find a flight

Not only should you have a passport now but you should begin considering where you would flee to.  You should begin researching the citizenship requirements of the prospective country.  Most likely these countries are not going to welcome you with open arms.  So if you are able to get dual citizenship now then you will be more prepared should the time come.

Get first aid training

During a civil war, there is going to be a lot of bloodshed.  You personally can only survive a few hours while losing blood.  This is an important reason to have a first aid kit at all times.  It is also another reason why you should get first aid training.  Not only will you be able to help others during a conflict but also yourself if alone.

Altogether these would be my tips on how to prepare for the coming civil war.  If you have any suggestions or feedback then please leave it in the comment section below.  Your feedback helps the community prepare the smart way now so that we can thrive later.
